Sen. Ron Johnson by YouTube for violating its Medical Misinformation Policy

Ron Johnson, Republican, Senator- Wisconsin posted a video promoting the anti malarial drug Hydroxychloroquine as a cure for COVID 19. The drug has been found ineffective in the case of Novel Coronavirus after a number of trials. Also, Senator Johnson bashed the administration, former and current for “not only ignoring but working against robust research (on) the use of cheap, generic drugs to be repurposed for early treatment of COVID.”

YouTube took down the content and suspended the Senator for a week in accordance with their Medical Misinformation Policy. “We removed the video in accordance with our COVID-19 medical misinformation policies, which don’t allow content that encourages people to use Hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin to treat or prevent the virus,” was You Tube’s Spokesperson’s response.

The Senator continues to push his claim and criticises You Tube for its actions.
