Sequel of ‘Downtown Abbey’ all set to release during Christmas 2021
Downton Abbey is confirmed to release during the Christmas holidays of 2021.
Downton Abbey 2 is all set to release in Christmas 2021 as announced by the Focus Features on April 19. In association with Carnival Films, the series will have additional new faces alongside the original principle cast.
The series will be directed by Simon Curtis, co-produced by Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge, created and screenplay by Julian Fellowes.
Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West will be seen in lead roles.
Downton Abbey 2 has already begun with it’s production and is set to hit the theaters on December 22.
Producer Gareth said in a press release, “After a very challenging year with so many of us separated from family and friends, it is a huge comfort to think that better times are ahead, and that next Christmas we will be re-united with the much beloved characters of Downton Abbey.”
Downton Abbey released in 2010 and went on till 2015 with six superhit seasons winning 15 Emmy Awards.
After the announcement of the sequel, Bonneville who played Robert Crawley took to Twitter to express his happiness of returning to the show.

Alongside his picture donning a handkerchief as a mask he wrote, “Good to be back. #DowntonAbbey2.”
Bonneville shared his reaction on the sequel announcement saying, “there certainly is the intention to do it, we’d love to do it, we’re desperate to do it,” noting the film would be a “pleasurable release of a movie like the first one is that audiences would enjoy after all this mess we’ve been through.”
