Sheryl Underwood and Sharon Osbourne get into a verbal spat on ‘The Talk’

‘The Talk’ show hosts Sheryl Underwood and Sharon Osbourne got into an ugly verbal spat over Piers Morgan’s comments on Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

‘The Talk’ that has been CBS’ longest running talk show has gone in an endless hiatus ever since Sheryl and Sharon fought.

Sharon Osbourne gets into an argument with Sheryl Underwood

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry spoke to Oprah Winfrey in her interview on March 7. In the interview, Meghan revealed some shocking incidents about the Royal Family including their racist comments on her son Archie’s skin colour.  Meghan also revealed that she was going through depression and mental trauma, staying in the Palace and she felt like she didn’t want to be alive any longer.

Reacting to the interview, British journalist Piers Morgan said that he didn’t believe a single word that Meghan said in her interview.

Later, on 10th March, ‘The Talk’ show host Sharon Osbourne defended Morgan’s statement tweeting, “I am with you. I stand by you. People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth.”

Following her tweet, Sharon got into an ugly argument with ‘The Talk’ co-host Sheryl Underwood when Sheryl questioned Sharon about defending Morgan.

Since then, the show went off air for a couple of days.

Sharon apologizes for her racist comments

After the heated argument, Sharon posted a public apology for offending the sentiments of the black community on her racist comments without mentioning Sheryl.

Sharon’s apology read, “To anyone of colour that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said, I am truly sorry. I panicked, felt blindsided, got defensive & allowed my fear & horror of being accused of being racist to take over”.

A source close to Sharon Osbourne revealed that she had personally reached out to Underwood and sent her a length and heartfelt apology on 12th March.

After the argument, Sharon Osbourne left ‘The Talk’ show which she had co-hosted with Sheryl ever since it began in 2010.

‘The Talk’ aired it’s first episode on 12th April after a month long break. Sheryl opened up about her argument with Sharon Osbourne on it’s first episode.

Sharing about her feelings over the argument,  Sheryl said, “I feel like I’ve been in, like, PTSD, because it was a trauma. I didn’t want to escalate things with Sharon because I thought I was having a conversation with a friend, but also I knew I had to be an example for others to follow because I didn’t want to be perceived as the angry Black woman, and that really scared me. I didn’t want to be that, and I wanted to remain calm and remain focused, and it’s difficult to go back to that day because I just feel the trauma. I feel fearful, apprehensive.”

In her podcast ‘The World According to Sheryl’  Sheryl said that Sharon didn’t apologize to her privately although she publicly did the same.

Sheryl has also said that she experienced PTSD after her fight with Sharon on ‘The Talk’ followed by her exit from the show, as it was very traumatizing to her.

Sheryl further added, “I feel like I’ve been in, like, PTSD because it was a trauma, and I feel like I want to get past this because I really wanted to get back to work with my friends and my colleagues and the crew … but I also wanted to get back to the audience.”
