Suni Lee becomes the sixth consecutive American Woman to win the Olympic all-around title

Suni Lee won the Olympic all-around title on Thursday, becoming the sixth consecutive American woman to win the title.

She successfully maintained America’s individual gymnastic winning streak, after Simone Biles withdrew from the event on Tuesday citing mental health concerns.

The title was previously won by Biles in 2016.

According to USA Today, U.S women won the silver medal in the event, but it was the first time since 2010 that they had failed to claim gold at the world championships or Olympics.

Lee finished with a score of 57.433, 0.135 ahead of Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade. Russia’s Angelina Melnikova claimed the bronze.

In 2019, Lee won gold at the 2019 World Championships. She won the medal at a time when her family was going through a tough time due to her father’s paralysis.
