The Buckingham family releases an official statement reacting on Meghan Markel’s interview with Oprah Winfrey
The Buckingham Palace has finally broke silence over the scathing interview of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
The Buckingham Palace has released an official statement stating the issues been raised by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “concerning” and that the family will address them privately.
The announcement further said “recollections may vary” but the claims made in their interview with Oprah Winfrey were “taken very seriously” and that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would “always be much loved family members”.
The response from Buckingham Palace comes after a few meetings involving senior royals due to the mounting pressure to respond to the revelations made by the couple; including Markle’s suicidal thoughts and the skin color of her son Archie.
The statement, which was quite quick, came a day and a half after the interview was first broadcasted in the US, said: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”
The UK broadcast on Monday night was watched by an average of 11.1 million people including Prime Minister Boris Johnson who refused to comment.
It remains to be seen what course the Palace opts for now.
