Indian PM Narendra Modi is now the most followed active politician on Twitter after the micro-blogging social media platform suspended the outgoing US President Donald Trump’s account after his supporters stormed the Capitol Hill in Washington DC.
Currently, PM Modi has 64.7 million followers. Before the suspension of his account, Donald Trump had nearly 88.7 million followers.

“After a close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter said in a tweet.

The platform also banned two Trump loyalists — attorney Sidney Powell and former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
However, Twitter’s decision invited widespread criticism from the Republicans and people worldwide with many saying it implies an assault on free speech by radical leftists.
