Van Leeuwen’s Mac & Cheese Ice Cream and other Houston dining introductions
Van Leeuwen introduces mac and cheese ice cream
July 14th is recognized as National Macaroni & Cheese day, and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream found an excellent way to celebrate it, introducing their mac and cheese ice cream.
This limited-edition flavor, concocted in collaboration with Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, will make the rounds this week both online ($12 per pint beginning at 10 a.m. on July 14 at vanleuwenicecream.com) and at Van Leeuwen scoop shops at 11 a.m. The ice cream makers are opening a second Texas storefront on Aug 7 in Uptown Park.
According to the Brooklyn-based ice cream company, the ice cream- made with flavors similar to that of Kraft’s macaroni and cheese- will serve to be a “nostalgic feeling from a warm bowl of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.”
Blue Bell introduces Coconut Cream Pie Ice Cream
The Mac & Cheese flavor was not the only new introduction as Blue Bell launched a new flavor for National Ice Cream Month. Coconut Cream Pie Ice Cream is a coconut French ice cream topped off with flakes of coconut, pie crust pieces, and a whipped topping swirl with toasted coconut. It is currently available in half gallons and pints and is a limited-edition entry.

New canned cocktails available nationwide
Veteran bartender Michael Neff, currently of San Antonio’s new Bar Loretta has created a Moscow Mule for Drifter Craft Cocktails, ushering in a new line of canned cocktails.
The flavors are a combination of the spiciness of ginger beer, which can be traced to Assam, India, and contains the sweetness of Griffo Pot Distilled Vodka that is produced in California along with lime juice and jalapeno flavor. This new flavor is accompanied by Spicy Margarita and Passion Fruit Caipirinha ($1.99 for a four-pack) and is now made available nationwide through select retailers.
