Venice Film Festival 2020: Chaitanya Tamhane’s ‘The Disciple’ wins Best Screenplay award

Director Chaitanya Tamhane won the best screenplay award for his Marathi-language feature “The Disciple” at the Venice Film Festival, the first such event held with live audiences since the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Marathi-language movie looks at the world of classical musicians on the fringes of success.

Meanwhile, Chloé Zhao’s film Nomadland has won the coveted Golden Lion award at the Venice film festival.
