15 wild elephants walk to Yuxi, China; Authorities trying to keep them away from populated areas

The 15 wild elephants wandered away from the tropical forests of Puer, in southwest China. The herd originally had 16 elephants, out of which two returned home and in the way, a baby was born. They were last spotted in Yuxi which is very close to Kumming that houses a population of 7 million people.

Authorities here are trying to keep them away from the populous areas so that no harm comes to them or the residents. The migration is said to be the longest one made by elephants in China. A task force has been assigned with resources like drones to keep a track of the herd.
