4.7 magnitude earthquake hits near Truckee

An earthquake of magnitude 4.7 struck near Truckee across the Sacramento area on Thursday night.

According to the USGS, the earthquake’s epicenter was registered at an area of around 11 miles northwest of Truckee.

The earthquake also trembled the areas as far away from the epicenter such as downtown Sacramento and Yuba City.

Almost four earthquakes have reportedly hit the Tahoe area on Thursday. However, this one was the strongest so far.  A 3.2-magnitude quake was recorded in the same area.

Also, a 3.3-magnitude earthquake was reported as near as 9 miles southeast of Sierraville in Sierra County and a 2.5-magnitude quake was registered 5.5 miles southeast of Dollar Point in Placer County.

Nevada County authorities stated that no damage was reported in those areas.

Furthermore, Sacramento Metro Fire reported that zero damage was recorded in the Sacramento area.
