Brenda Mallory to lead White House CEQ, Senate panel confirms

U.S. Senate panel confirmed that Brenda Mallory will head up the White House Council on Environmental Quality.

The role will be key to coordinating President Joe Biden’s climate change and environmental justice policies.

Mallory, who had previously served as a general counsel of the CEQ, and until recently was head of the regulatory affairs at the green advocacy group Southern Environmental Law Center, was voted 11-9 by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

The CEQ will coordinate the White House energy and environmental policies across federal agencies, and have a broad influence on the outlook for big infrastructure projects from pipelines to industrial facilities.
