Queen Elizabeth steps out for the first time after Prince Philip’s death
After one week of Prince Philip’s death, Queen Elizabeth has finally stepped out. Her beloved husband left for his heavenly abode on April 9th. The Queen stepped out from Windsor Castle to Frogmore Gradens on Friday taking her dogs out for a walk. After her husband’s death this was the first time she made her presence outside the castle.
She recently brought home two corgis to the family, named Fergus and Muicik. She has owned corgis and dorgis all her life. Queen Elizabeth has not yet addressed Prince Philip’s death with the public, but many family members other members have addressed the general public.
Amid reports that the Queen will be accompanied by family members at future engagements, a former senior aide at the palace tells PEOPLE, “Her family will step up and be by her side, but she will carry on. She understands that she has a job to do, and. She did do so when he retired from public life.”
A close royal insider adds, “She will never abdicate because of duty and honor and public service is so deep in her, as it was for him.”
“She fell in love, and she never looked at anyone else,” biographer Sally Bedell Smith tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story.
