As per Japan officials, both leaders are expected to discuss on managing peace and stability of regional seas, including Taiwan strait where tensions are on the rise. Human rights situation in Hong Kong and China are also the expected subject to talk on.
Japan has milder approach to allegation of human rights violation in China, since it hasn’t imposed any sanctions like the U.S and European nations.
Both the countries have friction with the Chinese as Japan considers China’s broad territorial claims as a security threat and the U.S. has numerous issues such as, human rights, Chinese policy in Hong Kong, also the pandemic being latest.
China has denied its expansionist says that it is only defending its territorial land. It also claims that largest threat to regional peace and stability is the United States.
