Tornado looms large over Atlanta as severe weather causes damage
Extremely severe weather with prospects of a tornado in the area of Atlanta continued to linger across the storm hit South on Monday. This came after a day when multiple tornadoes were reported in Mississippi, which caused damage and no injury.
A warning of the tornado had been issued for parts of the Atlanta metro region earlier on Monday, but after the storm passed through the region, it expired.
A tornado watch was put into effect in parts of central Alabama and the central Georgia region.
The weather service reported on Monday that in various parts of the Southern Plains in the Southeast and middle Mississippi and lower Ohio Valleys, the current acute thunderstorms and heavy rainfall can bring with itself, damaging flurry, drastic hail, some tornadoes, and flash flooding
On Sunday afternoon and even during the night hours, a line of grievous storms passed through Mississippi.
Late in the day on Monday, in Tupelo and surrounding areas, a ‘tornado emergency’ was declared. Meteorologists advised the residents to take the required measures.
