American Families Plan to make community college free for millions of Americans

President Biden on Wednesday took to Twitter to promote his plans to make Community College free for Americans under the American Families Plan. His tweet stated, “In case you missed it – the American Families Plan will make community college free for millions of Americans and provide universal access to high-quality, free pre-K for 3- and 4-year-olds. That’s a down payment on the future of America.”

Earlier on Monday, Biden spoke at the Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, Virginia, to promote his plans regarding the American Families Plan, which will offer, $109 billion for two years of tuition-free community college.

The American Families Plan is one of the Biden administration’s most ambitious projects which aims to provide universal preschool to all 3 and 4-year-olds, as well as two years of free community college. Both the programs would be available to the citizens irrespective of income.

The plan also aims to ensure that low and middle-income families are not bound to pay more than 7 percent of their incomes on things like child care. This step would lead to an entire wipe-out of the cost for some of the poorest Americans.
