Google releases new features to keep users engaged after lockdown

Alphabet Inc’s Google disclosed updates across many services, involving Maps and Docs on Tuesday. The move comes as the company displays its part in a world that has become more digitally attached during the pandemic, reported Reuters.

After the outbreak of a global pandemic and its associated restrictions forced people to shop and communicate online last year, Google’s search, video-conferencing and other tools have been exceedingly used in with in-person activities functioning again.

Google is set to make a case to maintain its relevance and compete with services from Microsoft Corp, Apple Inc and others, even through features that foster hybrid working set-ups.

Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai will be conducting a two-hour livestream on Tuesday as part of Google I/O, the company’s yearly three-day developer conference. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, the meet was cancelled last year and has a mostly virtual audience this year.
