Warning labels missing from posts quashing existence of climate change: Advance Democracy

A recent report released by Advance Democracy shared exclusively with USA Today stated that warning labels or links to credible information are mostly missing from posts that deny the existence of climate change, question its causes or undermine its effect.

Social media researchers and climate scientists claim that indefinite number of posts repudiate climate change can be seen on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube.

Michael Mann, Director of Penn State University’s Earth System Science Center, cautions that fossil fuel interests are altering social media platforms to instill doubt and disunity and suppress public support for climate change initiatives, reported USA Today.

Recently, the nation’s top social media giants have withdrawn the stops to shut down conspiracy theories, hoaxes and falsehoods about COVID-19 and vaccination, QAnon and the 2020 Presidential election.

However, they are far less active when it comes to the recent hotspot of the war on misinformation: climate change.
