6 injured after Bridge Collapses in D.C
6 injured and highway blocked after a bridge collapsed in Washington on Wednesday.
DC’S Department of Transportation had already scheduled the bridge for repair after it was added in the poor category in the investigation report. While officials say that it was hit by a truck and hence collapsed but Mr. Geldart, however, mentioned that even being in the poor category, it was working well. He also mentioned that there are six other bridges in the poor category.
According to them, DDOT wanted to replace bridge decks, approach slabs, bearing joints and repair the bridge’s substructure and repaint steel. But it wasn’t any structural error that caused the collapse.
