Art Graham and Andrew Fay seek reappointment to PSC

Among the 10 candidates seeking to be reappointed to the utility-regulatory panel are Art Graham and Andrew Fay of Florida Public Service Commission and Ron DeSantis, a former congressional aide for Gov.

Appointed by former Gov. Charlie Crist in 2010 and twice by former Gov. Rick Scott, Graham is seeking to be appointed to the commission again. Fay who was appointed by Scott in 2018 is also seeking a reappointment.

Graham’s new application read “In addition to competence and knowledge in the fields of public affairs, economics, engineering, natural resource conservation and energy developed through education and professional experience prior to serving on the PSC, I have served years as a commissioner in which I developed direct experience with applicable law, accounting, and finance”.

The application also highlighted Graham’s experience on the commission, which includes the regulation of electric utilities, water, gas, and telecommunications companies.

Fay appreciated the benefits of “customer engagement” to understand utility customers and the challenges facing them.

In the new application Fay noted that “In addition to customer engagement, I have also had the opportunity to present to various groups about the regulatory functions of the commission and to opine on some of the more pressing issues that our state is facing. Those issues include the growth of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, threats of cybersecurity to the electric grid, and the need for a more diversified energy workforce.”

The deadline for applications to the PSC seats was Tuesday. The applications of candidates will be reviewed by the Florida Public Service Commission Nominating Council. Names of finalists shortlisted based on interviews conducted by the panel will be recommended to Gov. Ron DeSantis. This will mark the third time that DeSantis has makes selections for the commission.
