Heavy rains flood roads and freeways in Michigan
Heavy rain in Michigan has closed down multiple roads and freeways due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall that began on Friday. Michigan State Police and the Michigan Department of Transportation are still dealing with the impact of the rainfall.
6.6 inches of rain is said to have fallen on Garden City, according to reports
The effects of the storm are still being assessed across the city. It is reported that hotlines will be released for residents to report flooding and make claims on the damaged property.
More rain is expected in metro Detroit. According to The National Weather Service forecasts there will be showers until next Friday. A thunderstorm and an isolated tornado are also expected in the upcoming days.
People are recommended to stay off freeways until the water is drained and the rains stop and follow guidelines issued by The City of Detroit.
