Juul agrees to pay $40 million to North Carolina
E-cigarette maker Juul Labs Inc has agreed to pay $40 million to North Carolina in order to settle a lawsuit of marketing its products to minors. The deal also includes restrictions on the sales of products that appeal to minors. It even has to produce yearly reports demonstrating its compliance.
Juul’s e-cigarettes resemble USB flash drives and work by vaporizing a nicotine-laced liquid which can lead to an epidemic of vaping among minors. The company shut its Instagram and Facebook channels. The company although has approximately 2000 lawsuits due to its health hazards and increasing addiction.
