Crash on I-95 cause miles-long traffic backup
A crash near Joplin Road in Triangle, Virginia caused a miles-long backup on northbound Interstate 95, on Friday morning.
According to reports by The Washington Post, a stolen car crashed into a tractor-trailer, causing the backup. The Virginia State Police tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and sped off leading to a pursuit. During the chase, the driver lost control and hit a tractor-trailer. The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, the police told The Washington Post.
Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination (MATOC) tweeted that all lanes have been blocked and that the traffic has been diverted to VA-286.
