Ocasio-Cortez, Nadler calls for Cuomo’s resignation
Democratic Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jerry Nadler along with several New York political leaders on Friday joined calls for Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign after a series of sexual misconduct allegations against him in recent weeks.
With the second sexual assault and sixth harassment allegation being leveled against Governor Cuomo, Ocasio-Cortez and Jamaal Bowman made a statement about the concerns raised by the report addressing the present safety and well-being of administration staff.
The allegations made by women, most of whom are his former aides, “have been consistent and highly-detailed” with “credible media reports substantiating their accounts.”
The calls for his resignation come only a day after New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie authorized its Judiciary Committee to start an impeachment investigation into the allegations made against Cuomo.
The panel’s investigation will run parallel to the one being led by state Attorney General Letitia James.
Cuomo, 63, has refused to resign, denying all allegations levied against him. He has requested that the public await the results of that investigation before making judgment.
