Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris will meet Asian American leaders in Atlanta
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will meet Asian American leaders during their Friday visit to Atlanta over spa attacks, the White House confirmed.
Biden and Harris will meet Georgia state legislators and Asian American and Pacific Islander advocates.
According to the White House, they will listen to their perspective on the rise in hate incidents targeting Asian Americans.
The trip to Atlanta was arranged prior to the shooting spree for the president to tout the benefits of his recently approved $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package, the American Rescue Plan.
Biden expressed concerns about violence targeting Asian Americans on Wednesday.
“I’ve been speaking about the brutality against Asian Americans for the last couple of months,” Biden said. “It is very, very troublesome.”
