We all love using social media platforms and sharing articles, photos, videos, and a lot more. But have you ever wondered about the age of your favorite social media platform? If not, here’s a complete list.

1. TikTok (5 years)

This site was launched in 2016 September by Zhang Yiming and was originally named Douyin. It ranked as the no. 1 app in 2018. That’s where our favourite Instagram reels drew their inspiration from.

2. LinkedIn (19 years)

It was launched in 2002 and was called MySpace too. It is a platform used for professional networking and allows job seekers to post their CVs and employers to post jobs. This was a unique concept and is still popular.

3. Facebook (17 years)

Though there emerged various other platforms such as Hot or Not, Friendster, Yahoo! Messenger, QQ, and My Space, but Facebook gained immense popularity. It was launched in 2004 and is still one of the most popular social media platforms.

4. Youtube (16 years)

From cookery videos to fashion styling, youtube has videos on every topic and that made it popular among users. It was launched in 2005 and immediately got a huge success.

5. Whatsapp (13 years)

Be it official chat groups or daily conversations, our lives are incomplete without checking WhatsApp notifications these days. It started in 2009. though earlier it was exclusively for iPhones but soon its popularity spread all over.

6. Instagram (11 years)

The popular social media platform was launched in 2010 and has been quite popular among teenagers. Instagram recently rolled out a reels feature which made it even more engaging. Its blue tick is quite a craze among all.

7. Snapchat (10 years)

Days are incomplete without sending a filtered photo and completing daily streaks. Snapchat brought filters and made them popular. The Dog filter is the most popular one. It was launched in 2011 and that’s when selfies became trendy.

8. Twitter ( 15 years)

Twitter is a microblogging social platform and was launched in 2006. It gave hashtags a new life. Almost all celebrities and politicians are now on Twitter which makes it a place for controversies now and then.
