Alabama police officer charged guilty in the killing of a suicidal man
An Alabama police officer was convicted of murder on Friday in the shooting and murder of a suicidal man who was holding a gun aiming his own head.
The accused was, Huntsville officer William “Ben” Darby, who was charged guilty of murder during the second day of jury session, reported The Associated Press.
The police officer was accused of shooting and killing a person named, Jeffrey Parker in 2018.
Prosecutors stated that Darby murdered Parker without any reason. Whereas, the defense stated that Parker was a threat to not only Darby but other officers too.
Darby shot and killed Parker after the victim dialed 911 to inform that he was armed and was planning on killing himself.
Genisha Pegues, a colleague of Darby, bore to witness in the court that Parker was angry but was talking to her and didn’t give any hint of danger, even though he held a gun aiming to his head.
Pegues was the first officer to reach the scene on April 3, 2018. .
