Allen Weisselberg surrenders to court in tax case

Allen Weisselberg, the Trump administration’s long-serving financial officer surrendered to the Manhattan district attorney’s office on Thursday in relation to a tax investigation. Mr. Weisselberg and the Trump Organization are expected to appear in court on Thursday.The details of the charge are yet to be fully disclosed.

Mr. Weisselberg showed up at court at 6:20 a.m., accompanied by Mary E. Mulligan, his lawyer. He is expected to appear in court again later in the afternoon along with representatives of the Trump Organization.

The ongoing inquiry is investigating whether Mr. Weisselberg failed to pay taxes on valuables he and his family received from Mr. Trump.

Weisselberg’s lawyers have said, “Mr. Weisselberg intends to plead not guilty and he will fight these charges in court,” intends to plead not guilty and he will fight these charges in court.”

Prosecutors had been pressurizing Mr. Weisselberg to cooperate and provide the information required for the investigation.
