Allen West resigns as chair of Texas Republican Party

Texas GOP Chair Allen West reported his renunciation Friday morning and said he is thinking about campaigning for another position, conceivably one that is statewide.

During a news meeting here, West said a statewide run is “something that I need to go to the Lord in supplication.” He said it would be “extremely insincere with such countless individuals that have requested that I think about something” to not investigate a run.
