Amazon will not screen applicants for marijuana except for those involved in transportation
As the state laws change with respect to Marijuana, Amazon decides to take it off the comprehensive drug screening, leaving the jobs that are administered by the Department of Transportation.
The decision comes in support of ‘The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act of 2021’ that legalises Marijuana at the Federal Level. In the press release by the VP, Customer Services says “our public policy team will be actively supporting The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act of 2021 (MORE Act)—federal legislation that would legalize marijuana at the federal level, expunge criminal records, and invest in impacted communities. We hope that other employers will join us and that policymakers will act swiftly to pass this law.”
