Amber Alert cancelled after missing Amarillo child found safe

An Amber Alert was cancelled after Amarillo police found a missing child and mother. A clear alert which is an alert for a missing adult was also canceled.

The woman was recognized as Lorena Michelle Reyes, a 22-year-old Hispanic female, and her three-year-old son Alejandro Alvarado reported KFDA.

Earlier in the morning, family members of Reyes had informed the police that they had been trying to reach Reyes for several hours but her cellphone was turned off, which was not usual of her to do.

.Amarillo Police stated, “Thank you, Amarillo, for all your help.” They did not provide any more details.

Police had been looking out for a missing 2-year-old and his mother and had identified the child’s father as a suspect. However, Police did not confirm if that man was arrested.

The amber alert was issued by the Texas Dept. of Public Safety earlier in the morning at around 4:30 am.
