Andrew Brown Jr. Shooting: Elizabeth City declares emergency before releasing footage
Just before the expected public release of the body footage of the brutal shooting of Andrew Brown Jr., a state of emergency was imposed in Elizabeth City on Monday by the North Carolina officials. Brown was shot and killed by a Pasquotank County sheriff’s deputy during a drug-related warrant executed earlier in the week.
The video will be shown privately at the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office on Monday at 11:30 a.m. ET to Brown’s family and their attorneys. Other people who will be shown the footage include Ben Crump, the civil rights attorney who secured the $27 million civil lawsuits in Minneapolis for the family of George Floyd, as well as attorneys Harry Daniels, Bakari Sellers and few relatives of Andrew Brown.
Schools in Elizabeth City will function completely on a remote schedule amid the state of civil unrest in the city. Details regarding the public viewership of the footage are still not available.
