Biden announces new actions to reduce gun violence

In a tweet on Thursday, U.S. President Biden announced new actions to reduce gun violence.

President Biden, Vice President Harris and Attorney General Garland delivered remarks on gun violence prevention in a video on Thursday.

Vice President Harris in her remarks stated that people on both sides of the aisle want action because solutions exist. She spoke about President Biden’s plans for gun safety, from curbing the proliferation of so-called ghost guns, weapons without serial numbers, and in some cases, homemade guns to restraining stabilizing braces, accessories that can be used to make pistols more like rifles.

The recurring shooting across states, the latest being the shooting at a home in South Carolina are putting pressure on President Biden to act on gun violence.

Condemning the US gun violence as a national embarrassment, Biden announced the new laws that would be put in place to curb the same.

President Joe Biden announced two plans in his speech, the first would be steps that the government would be taken immediately and the second, actions that need to be taken to curb gun violence.

Attorney-General Garland and his team were asked to prepare a list of immediate actions that could be taken, one that the Biden administration will be implementing immediately.

The regulations would require manufacturers numbering the kits and their parts so as to be identifiable while also running background checks on people aiming to purchase them.

The third step would be subduing the modifications to firearms that make them lethal to the National Firearms Act. It would require the purchaser to submit his name and other identifications to the Justice Department while also paying a $200 fee.

Biden also announced the nomination of a prominent gun safety advocate, David Chipman, to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
