#BidenCalm trends after President’s first primetime speech

President Joe Biden delivered his first prime time White House address, hours after signing into a $1.9 trillion stimulus package.

President Biden on Thursday evening directed states to make all adult Americans eligible to receive vaccines by May 1. Mr. Biden offered a new hope as he recognized the one-year anniversary. 

He said that with continued vigilance, families and friends may be able to gather to celebrate the nation’s independence.

“If we do our part, if we do this together, by July 4th there’s a good chance you, your families, and friends will be able to get together in your backyard or your neighborhood and have a cookout and a barbecue and celebrate Independence Day,” the president said.

Mr. Biden’s speech was solemn and short. It was a stark contrast to the often wordiness and defensive remarks by former President Donald J. Trump who minimized the pandemic.

Following the speech, #BidenCalm started trending on Twitter. Americans praised Biden for his calmness and optimistic outlook towards the pandemic. Tweets saying America is back under Biden were leading Twitter. 

Actress Lea Thompson tweeted saying “That was a perfect beautiful speech.”

With Biden’s speech Americans have found a new hope amid the pandemic.
