Deputy shot, shelter-in-place ordered in Boone neighborhood
A standoff situation is still underway after a Watauga County deputy was shot in a local Boone neighborhood on Wednesday, reported the Watauga County Emergency Services
On Wednesday afternoon, the Boone Police Department ordered the residents in the area of Hardaman Circle to “shelter in place” immediately.
The Boone Police stated that they were assisting the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office in the Brown’s Chapel Area of Watauga County with a standoff that is underway. However, there is no information on the condition of the injured deputy till now.
After the incident, the Boone Police department posted on Twitter, “Law enforcement is on the scene in the area. All residents remain in your home with doors and windows closed.”
