Donald Trump pushed Voting laws in Georgia, but Joe Biden called it Jim Crow

Republican-pushed legislation in Georgia with the hope to overturn the 2020 election results tightens voting laws that were advised by a lawyer to former President Donald Trump.

Trump signalled his support for this new law that attracted the critics and led to a major blow to voting rights based on colour as President Joe Biden called it an atrocity and ‘Jim Crow in the 21st Century.

But Trump welcomed the Georgia developments in the words ‘Congratulations to Georgia and the Georgia state legislature on changing their voter rules and regulations.

Trump is still a dominant force among the party’s Republican base and his backing for clamping down on voting rights.

“People are actually interested in getting involved and we have to harness all this energy,” Cleta Mitchell, a longtime Republican lawyer, said.
