Emmy Award Nominations: The Crown and The Mandalorian receive multiple nominations

Primetime Emmy Award Nominations for 2021 was unveiled by the Television Academy on Tuesday. The virtual ceremony was hosted by actor Ron Cephas Jones (This is Us) and his daughter, singer-actress Jasmine Cephas Jones (Hamilton). 

Netflix’s The Crown and Disney+ Hotstar’s The Mandalorian received the most number of nominations, 24 each, followed by WandaVision (23), The Handmaid’s Tale (21), The Queen’s Gambit (18), and Mare of Easttown (16).

The Crown and The Mandalorian were nominated in the Outstanding Drama Series category while The Queen’s Gambit and Mare of Easttown were nominated in the Outstanding Limited Series category. 

The ceremony also sought to honor the TV series that was shot amidst the pandemic.
