Ex-U.S Senator Nelson is now NASA Chief, picked by President Joe Biden
President Joe Biden selected ex-US senator Nelson as NASA chief. Nelson is also an astronaut this was announced on Friday in the White House.
Nelson is currently serving in NASA advisory council. He had a long interest in NASA. In 1986 he flew on the space shuttle in Columbia.
Nelson has served his three terms in the Senate, he took control to return humans from the moon for the first time since the 1970s.
President Biden will continue the program Artemis which was begun under the leadership of former President Donald Trump that aims to put astronauts on the moon by 2024, ambition is to land humans on Mars in the future.
Nelson would succeed Jim Bridenstine, appointed by Trump,as NASA administrator.
