Excessive flooding in Excelsior Springs causes mess in town

This Friday morning, people of Excelsior Springs woke up to flooding city streets, cars and buildings. In the past 24 hrs, 5 to 6 inches of rain has fallen in the north of town and even higher in the northeastern part. All this has put the WaterFest in jeopardy which was scheduled this weekend. The parking lots, parks, entrances of hotels, spas, etc are all blocked by water that has overflown from the East Fork Fishing River.

Excelsior Springs suffered a storm about two weeks ago and the community is still recovering from that one. Now it’s dealing with flooding. “Can’t this town ever get a break?” Jeremy Fisk, Excelsior Springs resident, said.
