Facebook adds Zoom and GoToMeeting to its Portal TV
Facebook’s Portal TV, a 12.5MP webcam designed for your TV, so you can make video calls to your Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp contacts from a large screen.
In an effort to make it even more attractive to its customers, Facebook has added Zoom and GoToMeeting support to its Portal TV product, so you can fully embrace the work-from-home lifestyle and take meetings from your living room couch.
Zoom and GoToMeeting are already available on Facebook’s other Portal devices such as the standard Portal, the Portal Mini and the Portal Plus, in addition to other videoconferencing apps like BlueJeans and Webex.
Portal TV is now the latest Portal device to be equipped with the new additions that would make it more useful as a webcam for work and other leisure activities.
“Now, your favourite Zoom functionality extends to the largest screen in your home, so you can work from your couch as well as your desk,” a blogpost on Tuesday read. “That includes joining breakout rooms for brainstorming in smaller groups, calendar integration to help you stay on top of your schedule, screen sharing to improve remote collaboration, and virtual backgrounds to improve your overall experience,” it further added.
Facebook has been slowly building out the feature set of its Portal family of video chat devices. In October of last year, it added Netflix to the Portal TV, and the second-generation Portal and the first Portal Mini released back in 2019 added WhatsApp calling support alongside more reasonable price tags.
