George Floyd Case: Minneapolis trial delayed as high court revise additional murder charges
The accused Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin’s trial was delayed till Tuesday morning as the high court anticipates additional murder charges against Chauvin in the George Floyd case.
The trial will begin on Monday, initially screening jurors to weigh murder and manslaughter charges in a case seen as a referendum on police violence against Black Americans.
Judge Peter Cahill of the Hennepin County district court responsibly selected the jury alone for three weeks before beginning the court.
The court mailed prospective jurors an unusually detailed 16-page questionnaire last year asking them what they know about Floyd’s death.
The death of George Floyd, a black American, created a stir worldwide. He fell victim to unauthorized police behavior.
