German authorities deploy SpaceX’s Starlink satellites to help people in flood hit areas
Supervision and Services Directorate of Rhineland-Palatinate state in Germany announced on Tuesday that it has deployed 12 SpaceX’s Starlink satellite dishes in the flood-hit areas of Ahrweiler district to provide people with internet services to contact the authorities.
In an official statement, the authorities also assured that a total of 35 satellites will be deployed in the region over time.
The satellite dishes had already been deployed in 11 places in the district including Liers, Ahrbrück, Brück, and Pützfeld.
Rhineland-Palatinate is one of the areas worst affected by the recent floods. According to the latest reports, as many as 188 people died due to floods in Germany alone.
