Google Assistant made ordering food online easy
During the pandemic food delivery businesses had a boom due to two main reasons – it’s safe and it supports local business. Further ahead it will be made even more easy due to the Google’s new update which will have Google Assistant to fill in contact and payment details automatically on the Android phone after you find a restaurant via Google search.
In order to use the new feature, you need to search for whatever restaurant you’d like to order from on Google app, then click on “Order Online” button on the restaurant’s information card. Once you are done selecting your food items, the Google Assistant will slide in and will fill up the remaining details using your stored contact and payment information from Google Pay and Chrome Autofill. On your confirmation of payment, order is placed.
There are some limitations to it as it works only with the restaurants Google have partnered with and this feature is only for Android users. Also that it will only be able to pick up orders for now and deliveries will be kicking in later.
For this change Google is passing on the credits to Duplex – initially introduced as a service to automate making reservation and appointment over the phone and later having its name applied to automated form-filling for inline rental cars and movie tickets – which seems a little odd knowing of the company’s tech background.
It has been known that missing Apple devices wouldn’t ring, when you trying to find it with the help of Google Home, if they have been on silent. But if you select “receive notification and critical alerts” from the Google Home app, assistant can ring a missing Apple device if it is on D&D mode.
Google also has new set of updates rolling in soon: Smart home automated routine that can cause trigger to sunrise and sunset.
