Joe Biden reacts to the Boulder supermarket shoot out
President Biden reacted to the Boulder shooting urging his colleagues to take steps to “ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines” in an attempt to prevent gun violence.
Commending the bravery of police officer Eric Talley, the President in a statement urged the U.S. Senate to pass laws to close loopholes and a background check system.
The assault, which took place in a busy supermarket in Colorado on Monday, took 10 lives, including that of a police officer.
Former U.S. President Barack Obama also reacted to the incident, urging leaders to listen to the American people and take significant action so they could live their lives without fear.
An investigation is still underway. The gunman, identified by the Boulder Police Chief Maris Harold, Ahmad Alissa, 21, lives about 20 miles south of Boulder.
Aerial footage of the scene revealed gist details of the incident which captured authorities escorting a shirtless man in handcuffs who appeared to have a bleeding leg from the scene.
The victims were between ages 20 to 65. Family members were informed of the incident.
