Joe Biden urges Congress to pass hate crime bill in response to violence against Asian Americans

Due to the discrimination and violence against Asian Americans, President Joe Biden has urged Congress to ”swiftly pass” the hate crime legislation bill which took rise during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act aims to increase Justice Department oversight of coronavirus-related hate crimes, provides support for the state and local law enforcement agencies, and make hate crime information more accessible to Asian American communities.

A recent wave of attacks against Asian Americans coincides with the spread of the coronavirus across the United States .
