Joe Biden’s first news conference: Gun control laws, doubling of COVID-19 vaccines, Warning to North Korea

Joe Biden has unfolded government plans in his first televised Presidential News Conference

U.S. President Joe Biden said on Thursday he was setting a new goal of administering 200 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in his first 100 days.

“I believe we can do it,” Biden told at the White House.

Pressing the need for gun control laws, Joe Biden said that successful gun control measures are a matter of timing, after two mass shootings in a week that rattled the country.

President said that he expects to run for president again in 2024 and defended his policy to provide shelter to unaccompanied children crossing the U.S. border from Mexico.

He warned North Korea of the consequences of launching two ballistic missiles on Thursday and said he was consulting with U.S. allies on the way forward.

Biden said, “He had made it clear to Chinese President Xi Jinping that the United States was not looking for a confrontation, but would insist that China play by international rules for fair competition and fair trade.”

“Xi doesn’t have a democratic – with a small ‘d’ – bone in his body, but he’s a smart, smart guy,” he said.
