Kamala Harris tweets: 916,000 jobs added in March

Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, in a tweet on Monday, expressed her joy at the 916,000 jobs created in the U.S. in March; the majority of the newly appointed workers being women.

Last month, during Women’s History Month, Harris had tweeted a message of inspiration, to “keep standing strong, keep pushing through and keep making history”, only to see those efforts pay off.

Harris, in her video, had called the mass exodus of women from the workplace a “national emergency” that demanded a “national solution”. In her recent tweet, she acknowledged the efforts behind those numbers.

The American Rescue plan, the VP said, was designed with the woman in mind. With $1,400 checks, assistance for childcare, expanded tax credits, and support for small businesses, the plan is helping women get back on their feet.

In addition, the American Jobs Plan through care infrastructure for parents and kids aims to help millions of women back into the workforce. The vaccination program is also playing its part in helping reopen schools and saving lives. Although there are still 1.8 million fewer women in the workforce than before the pandemic, the government is making changes to help women who “want a job” to get a “good job”.

In her message, she had said that “Women make the world work and in this future, the world will work for women,” a promise the government appears to be delivering on.
