Kamala Harris tweets encouraging message to the women of America
Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged the end of Women’s History Month with a message to “keep standing strong, keep pushing through and keep making history” in a tweet on Wednesday.
In a video, Harris spoke about women whose stories we know and “whose stories have gone untold”. She spoke of women who made history, naming Felicitas Mendez, Sylvia Rivera and Mary Jackson among a few, whose contributions to the United States have impacts even to this day.
“We need to look towards a future. A future in which women will be able to get a job that offers equal pay for equal work and treats her with dignity and lets her rise through the ranks without obstacles”, she said in the video, “Women make the world work and in this future, the world will work for women.”
Harris’ tweet comes as a source of inspiration for all, at a time of devastation.
As Women’s History Month comes to an end, I want women to remember: you’re part of a community of women that keeps our nation going. Keep standing strong, keep pushing through, keep making history. We're going to build a better future for women, girls, and all Americans together. pic.twitter.com/8bElmwuj6c
