Kamala Harris visits US-Mexico border patrol facility to address immigration

Vice President Kamala Harris visited a border patrol facility near the U.S.-Mexico border to address the cause of immigration on Friday. According to officials, it was not dictated by the Trump administration and Harris’ efforts focus on diplomacy. Immigration continues to be a debated topic. It reaches a 20 year high this time.

Republicans criticized Her for choosing El Paso rather than the area which is considered as a hot spot for increased border crossings.

After reaching texas, Harris told reporters, “I said back in March I was going to come to the border, so this is not a new plan. Coming to the border is about looking at the effects of what we have seen happening in Central America.”

She was accompanied in El Paso by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Dick Durbin, and Democratic Representative from Texas Veronica Escobar, who called the El Paso area the new “Ellis Island”
