Mask manufacturers in America encounter a blow from their Chinese competition

When the Pandemic hit, many local and acclaimed mask manufacturers sprung into action. Masks were bought in bulk and the condition continued to stay the same for about a year.

But like all other markets, the Chinese have yet again taken over this business by factoring in low cost masks and have left American mask makers in quite a dilemma. They have a stockpile of 260 million surgical masks and 20 million N95 masks that they have been unable to sell.

The newly formed American Mask Manufacturer’s Association has appealed to the President to take an action against ‘Unfair Trade practices by Foreign Nations’ that have caused despoliation in their trade. In their letter they highlighted that “54% of our production will go offline in 60 days and 84.6% in less than a year”. They reinstate that they have seen a price drop of almost 90% from the last year.
