Multiple people killed and injured in mass shooting in San Jose
Multiple people were killed and injured in a shooting at a light rail yard in San Jose on Wednesday. This incident has emerged as the most recent burst of a mass shooting to hit the country this year.
Police spokesman Russell Davis confirmed to USA Today that the gunman had died and that employees of the rail yard were among the victims.
Davis added that he was not aware of how the gunman died also if the law enforcement shot their weapons. Davis claimed, “There is a lot of speculation on fatalities. I can’t confirm the exact number of injuries and fatalities, but I will tell you that they are multiple injuries and multiple fatalities.”
Mayor Sam Liccardo stated that some people were being tested for wounds and injuries and that the situation at the slumping Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority light rail hub was still being examined. He added that the city was experiencing a “dark moment.”
“This is a horrific day for our city and a tragic day for the VTA family. Our heart pains for the families and the coworkers,” Liccardo added.
